We would like to give a big “thank you!” to our generous community partner at Cardinal O’Hara High School for allowing us to host our summer program at their beautiful facility this year.

Summer is the time of exploration, play, & building friendships that children wait for all year.

Our Occupational & Physical Therapists are fortunate enough to spend time with children in school from September to June, and we are always looking for ways to continue that learning over the summer months.

Our programs are here to present children of all ages with new & challenging opportunities in a fun, small group atmosphere.

APOT’s Summer Links to Learning Summer Bridge Program

helps kids enhance their physical, cognitive,

& social skills in a fully integrated, supportive setting.

All of our programs are specially designed & led by pediatric occupational & physical therapists (OTs & PTs) to ensure all campers get what they need to succeed.

BIKE RIDING: 101
July 8-12, 2024

No matter where children are in their journey to mastering riding a bike, we would love to help! In a low-pressure, small group setting, we will provide a fun and encouraging environment to learn this life-long skill. Activities will be centered upon improving independence with the skills necessary for riding a bike including use of a balance bike.

Campers bring their own bike and helmet and a Physical or Occupational Therapist will help make sure everything is properly adjusted to fit!

This week focuses on practicing:

-confidence and trust in a child’s own body
-balance
-coordination
-gross motor skills
-visual motor skills
-sensory motor skills
-endurance
-strength
- and so much more!

This week will provide your child fun and interesting activities centered around physical fitness, challenging the cardiovascular and muscular systems. We can help your child express their energy and experience the ‘feel good’ chemicals that comes along with exercise.

This week focuses on practicing:

-gross motor skills
-coordination
-balance
-endurance
-strength
-flexibility
-team work
- and so much more!

Mindful Movers

July 22-26, 2024

This week is for kids who seem to be traveling at light speed!  Our learners this week will learn about their own sensory systems to better understand how their brains control their bodies and what they can do to help slow their engines down.

There are decades worth of research promoting the use of mindfulness-centered activities in improving cognitive function and decreasing stress & anxiety.   These skills are necessary, not only for success in the classroom, but also to help enjoy learning and manage unpredictable changes in routines.

This week focuses on practicing:

- focus & attention
- turn taking
- impulse control
- frustration tolerance
- memory
- fine and gross motor skills
- self-regulation
- social emotion regulation
- sensory modulation
- social skills
- and so much more!
